I am the third generation on our farm and ranch in northern Utah with my wife and 3 boys, my brother and his family. and my mom and dad. We run a little over 500 irrigated acres outside Tremonton, Utah and a several thousand-acre cattle ranch in southern Idaho. We are currently running 250 mother cows and several hundred yearlings. We started using cover crops in 2016 and have been no-till since 2017. We raise corn, wheat, triticale, oats, alfalfa and cover crops.We have a grass finishing program that our open heifers get cycled through which have allowed us to further utilize our summer cover crops and convert them to profit. We try hard every year to plant a cover crop on every irrigated acre and our focus is centered on soil health.
